Pete Helmore
Pete Helmore first started doing radio 4 years ago, as a school project. After that he was asked to get involved in the 3-week Restricted Service License. From then he has just got more and more involved in radio. When Pete did the Restricted Service License he used to do the children's show, and also used to run round like a mad man doing everything. Believe or not, he still does run round like a mad man today. Pete went on to run the school radio until he left Somervale School. After leaving Somervale in 2009, does not mean he will be leaving the school radio. He will be back to give them a helping hand and to make sure the school radio does not cease, and keep it sustained for the remaining future, he calls it his project what he built during his time at Somervale.
After completing his GCSEs in the summer of 2009, Pete is looking forward to seeing what the future holds for him in radio. So look out Radio 1! Pete also now runs his own Tech Help service online, TechHelp24/7. At the moment Pete has a big involvement in Somer Valley FM and as well as the Community Show, he is also part of the Instant Radio Mix, that airs on Friday evenings between 6 and 8pm.
Pete thinks 'The show is about bringing the community together and getting the interaction needed in communities, proving the community spirit is still around. At the end of the day community radio does what it says on the tin; helps out the community, and that is what we are here for.'
Max Hall
Max Hall was a student at Somervale for 5 years, he carried on to do A Level. Through which he did not succeed, he has gone on to do Music at Bath College. He has always said he would like something to do with the Radio when he started listening to the Sunday show every weekend. Max has interests in Music and IT and would love to be his own boss so he thought the Radio was a good place to start!
When Max was told about doing The Community Show with Pete he immediately said, "This is a great start." "I chose to take this opportunity because being with my friends and having fun are key minorities as to having a good Radio show. I always wondered how many people listen in to Somer Valley, but now I am part of the action, it's weird to think that people are listening to you."
